BRAGGING RIGHTS!!

Well, tonight was soccer night, for our grandson and we have all started really looking forward to it! After several days of hot, humid weather, it was a treat to go to the soccer field by Lake Ontario. In fact, we were cold LOL!

What an exciting night - the game was going against our team, but Corson managed to get a goal - the last picture was just before he scored. His team mate passed it to him and he ran like the wind! I don't know who was more excited - Corson or his mom, who was jumping up and down and screaming at the top of her lungs. You need a cheering section, after all. It is so nice to see these little kids, learning to work together as a team. One of Corson's favourite schoolmates, Jessie, is on his team and they look our for each other - it's so cute. She is also turning out to be one super little soccer player. Just look at that determination on her face in the second picture. These are just the best days, aren't they - as grandparents, we get to sit back and just enjoy all the excitement.

PIP AND HER DOLLY ON EBAY!

Well, I decided this week I would try and make a totally different bear - a Japanese style teddy!
They have different proportions and short arms and legs. So after a lot of fiddling, I thought I had it. Ha! I put it together and I was sure it would be something totally new. "However", once I stuffed her, and finished her face, it became apparent that no matter what I do, my bears do look like they are all relatives LOL! I hope you enjoy Pip and her Dolly.

WHO KNEW!

Who on earth knew that I would end up a soccer "nanny" at this stage in my life. Our son was not interested in sports at all and our daughter did individual things like ballet, piano and gymnastics. I am not the slightest bit athletic, so my experience in team sports was "nil". This year, our grandson, Corson, started to play soccer. After the first game, when the kids were doing everything from watching the clouds to picking daisies in the field and a loss of 8 - 0, I was beginning to think it would be a looooong, hot, summer.

HOWEVER, tonight was their third game and they have learned a lot and it was so much fun to watch! The girls and boys alike, ran their little butts off, up and down the field. Corson got a breakaway and came inches away from scoring - he was soooo excited because everyone was cheering for him. My daughter and I were cheering so loud, that we started to laugh - we said we would never be "those" moms who made all the noise LOL! Corson will be starting hockey this fall, too, so I guess I'd better learn some cheers!!

GO DETROIT GO!!!

Well, tonight is the night - a make it or break it night for the Detroit Red Wings. Our house has been a Detroit fan forever, as hubby grew up in the Detroiot/Windsor area! Now there are three generations of fans and that has to count for something LOL! It has come down to the wire and we will be watching tonight as they play the last game in the season, to see who will will the Stanley Cup - "GO DETROIT GO"!!!!!

FRIENDS ARE THE BEST!

Yesterday was the best time - I spent the afternoon having tea and "show and tell" with my niece, Karen, and good friend, Deborah Burnham. Karen had a delicious lunch and then we spent the rest of the time, indulging in all the goodies, YUM! Hubby was kind enough to drive the 7 hours round trip, so I could enjoy this wonderful afternoon - thanks Neil!

I find genetics fascinating. Karen and I have always had extremely similar taste - we even used the same wallpaper without realizing it (when wallpaper was "in" LOL!) and we picked the same colour schemes and almost identical floor tiles, when we were buying new houses, while totally oblivious to what the other one was doing. Heck, I couldn't pick out something I was sure my daughter would like, but I could definitely pick something "perfect" for Karen. On the other hand, my daughter is much more like my sister, Karen's mum. Someone must have fun shaking up the genes! Karen is also a talented decorator and has such a gift with restoring old fabrics and toys to their original beauty. She has an Etsy shop called "Ciderantiques", that's full of wonderful things. If you have time, check it out.

Deborah is an incredibly gifted artist in so many areas. She makes the most fabulous bears under the name Bearhaven Bears. She also makes incredible altered art jewelry and ATC cards and is now experimenting in larger pieces, as well as taking the most incredible photographs. I got to see all the new things she has made recently and it is just so exhilerating to be with people that have the same interests. Deb also has an Etsy shop called "Landofnodstudios", so if you have time, drop by.

I also got to see Cider, Karen's dog. She was so excited - even came to greet us at the front door (where she isn't supposed to be LOL!) Cider has had a difficult time this spring, after having a cancerous growth removed from her leg, so it was wonderful to see her. I will confess, I was greeted second, after my hubby, Neil. Cider has always loved Neil and it's funny to see her go "gaga" when he visits. So, while it is great to be able to see our grandson more often, I truly wish we could do tea a lot more often. Thanks Karen and Deborah, for a truly magical afternoon - I really miss you guys!

ZACHARY AND HIS GOOSE CART

I decided to make a wee bear to go with the Goose cart I made recently. His name is Zachary and he is barely 3 inches tall and made from mohair. He is fully disc-jointed, excelsior filled (along with some stainless steel shot), and has a tiny waxed nose and leather paw pads. I haven't made such a small one in a long time and I am really pleased with him.

Zachary and the Goose cart are both listed on Ebay tonight in two separate auctions. You can view them by clicking on "Ebay Listings" under My Links at the top of my blog. I love to get feedback, so don't be shy - enjoy!
